South Main Kitchen Alpharetta

South Main Kitchen Alpharetta

Chef Christy Stone, who now helms the kitchen at the newly opened South Main Kitchen in Alpharetta, walks this candy rope. Stone began her culinary career by opening a bakery in Sandy Springs and later made the transition to the savory side as restaurant chef. Yet, at South Main Kitchen, she peppers the food with those sweet touches that recall her bakery beginnings. Stone’s approach mostly hits the mark at this hopping Alpharetta spot.

South Main Kitchen Alpharetta

South Main Kitchen provides a much-needed, chef-driven neighborhood hangout to add to Alpharetta’s growing collection of restaurants in its historic downtown revival. It would be my Alpharetta choice for a good meal with friends where I could sip a Cherry Street coconut porter, brewed in Cumming, to pair with Stone’s fare.

JAtlanta (Atlanta)·Dined on April 28, 2017There are so few restaurants around here (Roswell/Alpharetta) that are really good neighborhood restaurants. Most are chains or simply mediocre. Too many are just for the bar scene. This one has good food, good service, good parking (garage nearby) , easy to get to from eat of GA 400, and reasonable prices. My wife had the shrimp pasta. She said the shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the pasta was very good. I had pork chops. There were two of ample size, juicy and hot. We need more restaurants like this one.Tags: Casual, Bar SeatingWas this review useful to you?Yes·No·Reportfood5ambience4service5value5

vipGothamFoodie (New York Area)·Dined on April 6, 2017What a great surprise to find such interesting, well-prepared food in Alpharetta. I dine all over the world on business and live in a foodie Brooklyn hood so the 4 of 5 means extraordinarily good – just need to have one star left for the Jean Georges of the world. I had a light lunch – blue cheese salad, and the artichoke appetizer to share. Wouldn't miss that one if you go.Was this review useful to you?Yes·No·Reportfood4ambience4service4value4

ATLdiner (Atlanta)·Dined on April 16, 2017We decided to have our family Easter lunch at South Main Kitchen. This was our second time at the restaurant and again, it was very enjoyable. We ate out on the top level deck since it was a warm Georgia afternoon. The food was great. The brussel sprout appetizer is one of our favorites so that was a must to get us started. Main dishes ordered were the brisket tacos, all good burger and the chicken sandwich. Each one was very good with no complaints. We will most definitely visit again.Tags: Special Occasion, Great for Brunch, Good for a Date, Sunday LunchWas this review useful to you?Yes·No·Reportfood5ambience5service5value4

The same salsa dresses the red snapper, one of my favorite entrees at South Main Kitchen. The fruit plus a tiny twirl of blood orange sauce makes a nice contrast to the well-salted, expertly crisped skin. Score another for the baker-chef.
